Magnificent Jewels

Art. 41
16 June - 16 June 2022

Live Auction: 16 June 2022 • 10:00 AM EDT • New York

The 16 June Magnificent Jewels sale is led by an array of exceptional signed jewels, important diamonds, colored diamonds and colored stones. Highlights of the auction include a stunning 101.41-carat D color, Internally Flawless diamond, a rare pair of Kashmir sapphire earclips, an impressive Moghul-inspired emerald necklace by Cartier and two lovely antique-cut diamonds: one Fancy Intense Pink, the other a remarkable Fancy Gray-Violet.

The Juno Diamond

Weighing a staggering 101.41 carats, the Juno diamond leads our June Magnificent Jewels sale. Named for the Roman goddess of light, youth, motherhood and fertility, the Juno is at once imposing and majestic in its astonishing brilliance. One of only twelve “perfect” diamonds to appear at auction since 1990, the Juno is an exceedingly rare miracle of nature.

Statement Necklaces

This season’s trend report finds statement necklaces featured on red carpets and magazine covers everywhere. It seems like every celebrity – from veterans like Nicole Kidman to relative newcomers such as Zendaya – has embraced the trend. These high-impact jewels have become so popular that men have co-opted the look, as seen on Timothée Chalamet at the Oscars and Dwyane Wade at the Met Gala. No invite to the Oscars coming your way? Not to worry. These necklaces provide a red-carpet moment, regardless of the occasion.

Bold Bracelets

Nothing transforms an outfit quite like a bracelet. Whether studded with gemstones or a more understated affair, a little bit of arm candy goes a long way. This June’s colorful selection features several stand-out examples including an impressive Cartier ‘Chimera’ bracelet composed of carved coral and a playful amethyst and turquoise bangle by Van Cleef & Arpels. No Magnificent Jewels sale is complete, of course, without classic Art Deco wristlets and a silky band of mystery-set sapphires to satisfy the serious collector.

The Brooch Approach

Don’t call it a comeback. Once relegated to the confines of your grandmother’s jewel box, the brooch is making a splash in a big way. Infinitely wearable at the lapel, collar or even in the hair, the brooch expresses the wearer’s individuality in a way that other types of jewelry cannot. Whether delicate diamonds from Harry Winston or bold gold from David Webb, each of these brooches stands alone as a unique work of art.

The Quintessential Diamond Ring

Every great jewelry collection is anchored by an important diamond ring. Originating with the Ancient Egyptians, women have long donned rings as symbols of betrothal. Billions of years in the making, formed by a combination of heat and pressure, diamonds are the literal and symbolic embodiment of eternal love.
