Hemispherical ear studs

Art. 132

The hemispherical stud earrings are cast in gold using the African Ashanti casting technique, a lost wax casting process which has been in use, virtually unchanged, for several thousand years. Each unique piece is formed, fired and cast by hand with the help of beeswax, charcoal, refractory clay and horse manure. Thanks to the ingenious technique from Ghana, it is possible to create even thin-walled objects expressively. The ancient and the contemporary are shown to advantage in a unique way.
