- What materials do you prefer to use in your creations, and why?
I prefer to use an arrangement of natural and carved crystals in conjunction with faceted stones. Being able to use the different colors in assorted metals is a great way to accentuate the characteristics present in the gemstones used in a design. I primarily work with different gold alloys and silver is always fun to use to create contrast with its oxidization properties.
- How would you define your style in the world of jewelry?
My style combines organic curves with bold, geometric shapes, creating a contrast between the natural flow of the materials and the precision of structured forms. I incorporate high-end gemstones and hand-carved elements to bring texture and individuality to each piece, allowing the materials and craftsmanship to shine through in harmony
- How do you balance innovation with tradition in your art?
I balance tradition and innovation by combining classic techniques with modern tools. While I carve wax, incorporate sculpting, and engraving for detailed, artisanal work, I also incorporate digital design for precision and flexibility. Hand-carving gemstones and intricate stone setting allow me to push creative boundaries while staying true to the craftsmanship of the past
- How do you choose to represent uniqueness in your creations?
I express uniqueness in my creations by being deeply involved in every step of the process, from concept to completion. This hands-on approach allows me to infuse each piece with a personal touch, balancing the elegance of classical techniques with innovative, unconventional methods. The result is jewelry that feels timeless yet refreshingly original, capturing both tradition and individuality in every design.
- How do you think sustainability impacts the contemporary jewelry world?
Sustainability plays a vital role in contemporary jewelry, giving each piece a deeper story. Being able to trace the origins of materials adds authenticity and meaning while addressing the growing need for environmental and ethical responsibility.
- Have you collaborated with other artists or designers? How was that experience?
Collaborating with other artists is an incredible creative outlet. Sharing ideas and developmental techniques opens up new perspectives, as everyone brings their own unique approach. It challenges me to think differently than when designing alone. I’ve had the opportunity to collaborate both in person, working side by side in the studio, and remotely, exchanging components to bring our shared vision to life.
- How do you think technology influences or will influence the jewelry industry?
Technology is revolutionizing the jewelry industry by transforming both design and production. Tools like 3D modeling and printing allow for intricate details and complex designs that were much harder to achieve by hand. Advanced techniques like laser engraving and CAD software empower designers to experiment, refine, and push creative boundaries. Additionally, technology enables a more efficient and sustainable approach, optimizing material usage and reducing waste. It’s a powerful tool that not only enhances creativity but also helps bring even the most ambitious ideas to life with precision and innovation.
