Interview with Gabrielli

Art. 680

- What was the journey that led you to become a contemporary jewelry artist?

My passion for jewelry art is innate. I grew up watching my father transform precious metals into works of art, which inspired me to follow in his footsteps. His guidance encouraged me to explore the endless expressive possibilities of jewelry art. Today, my creations reflect my ongoing quest for new artistic expressions, combining tradition with innovation.

- What materials do you prefer to use in your creations and why?

For me, every material has a unique charm and potential that goes beyond its apparent "nobility." While gold and silver are traditionally associated with jewelry making, I find equally intriguing so-called “less noble” materials such as iron, wood, or copper. Each material carries its own story, texture, and energy. The true challenge in my creative process lies in combining these elements, creating unexpected harmonies, and giving rise to new meanings through the interaction of such diverse materials.

- Are there recurring themes in your work? If so, what are they and why?

Recurring themes in my work often revolve around nature and its hidden beauty. I am fascinated by the process of transformation, the ability to continually renew itself in surprising and mysterious ways. I strive to capture and convey this magic through my jewelry, creating pieces that reflect the dynamism and renewal that characterize the natural world.

- What role do personal emotions play in your creativity?

Emotions are, to me, a mirror of the soul, a key that allows me to explore my inner world rich with nuances. Understanding and interpreting my emotional states is essential to channeling that energy into my creative process. Emotions thus become a compass that guides me toward new ideas, helping me translate feelings and perceptions into shapes and materials, resulting in creations that express an introspective journey.

- Is there a message or philosophy you wish to convey through your creations?

I am fascinated by the idea that every living being, every element of nature, is part of a complex and interconnected mosaic. I believe that we are all threads in a single fabric, bound by invisible, interdependent relationships. My works aim to capture this beauty and complexity, inviting observers to reflect on our role in this grand design, on our connection with the world around us, and with one another.

- How do you approach the relationship between functionality and aesthetics?

I believe that the perfect piece of jewelry is the one that harmoniously combines beauty and practicality. Aesthetics must serve functionality and vice versa. It is a delicate balance that I strive to achieve in each of my creations.
