His interest in gemstones spans more than three decades: he holds a BSc. Degree in Gemmology and Jewellery Studies from Birmingham City University, in addition to his FGA and DGA qualifications from the Gemmological Association of Great Britain (Gem-A).

As a licensed prospector in Kenya, he made a discovery of a new sapphire in the market sold as Goldsheen Sapphire, that they mine and cut in their workshop in Kenya.

He is specialised in East African gemstones, Tsavorite, Tanzanite, Tourmaline and Goldsheen Sapphire, but his company can also source for their customers any gemstone mined in East Africa.

In conjunction with the World Gem foundation (WGF), he set up East African Gem Academy, where they offer gemmology courses in more than ten countries across Eastern Africa.
